too high for SOME? I don't know of anyone who thinks they are where they should be. Dropping 20 cents in a week is nothing, they have gone up that much in a day. maybe if it dropped another dollar it would be more bearable.

Prices at the pump still do not accurately reflect the actual price of crude these days. Imagine that.

Because it's still a rip off. Should be around $2.50 since they admitted they were making a reasonable profit when oil was around $60/Brl Jul. 2009!

Maybe it should be free, ManOfLeisureII? Like health care? If you think it is expensive now just wait until it is free.

They want your vote.
It will be interesting to see what happen after the election.
They our still too high even at $3.00.

@Mr_Bill_W, if you want Goldman Sachs to drop a load in their pants, the driving public needs to buy less gas. There's no other way. They know they have us where they want us, which is over a barrel.
We need to break this love affair with gas. It's an abusive relationship.

We use the word 'plummeted' to describe the drop in gasoline prices but it rises in increments of a dime or more far faster.

You mean like when BP blew up the Deepwater Horizon oil rig in the Gulf, @postcard9? I'm sure the residents of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida would LOVE a repeat of that fiasco.

Really, @GManCo? I seem to remember gas prices WAY over $4 bucks a gallon back in 2008, when George Dubya was screwing things up in the White House. I guess his solution to lower gas prices was to derail the global economy.
Great job!

Well, they WERE down. Just yesterday (Saturday), there were many stations around here at $3.209/gallon. Today, they shot up to $3.559/gallon. What the heck happened on a Sunday to make gas prices jump 35 cents?????
