I saw your post regarding the price of gas in your '72 Gran Torino. Doing a little research, I found the the MSRP of a new 1972 Gran Torino 2-door fastback with the 351, AC and an auto trans was about $3,100. Today, a moderately optioned 2010 Taurus goes for about 9 times as much. If you were spending $7 for a fill-up in the Torino, I'm guessing you might have been buying about 18 gal, which would have been about $0.39/gal back then, which sounds about right. If gas cost 9 times as much now, like the car does, you'd be paying about $3.51/gal. Maybe THESE are the good-old days after all.
